I=I — Undetectable = Untransmittable translates into visual language one of the most important — and least known — facts of HIV science: a person on treatment, with an undetectable viral load, cannot transmit the virus (the international U=U consensus).

The performance premiered on November 1, 2018 at Darb 1718, Cairo, on the opening night of Something Else — OFF Biennale Cairo — the artist's first performance, staged in a country that bars people living with HIV from entering. “They found the medication and didn't realize it was for HIV,” he told CartaCapital about passing through customs.

In 2019 the work occupied the Museum of Modern Art in São Paulo on December 1 — World AIDS Day — and travelled to Rio de Janeiro the same month. With his body stamped with the I=I symbol, the artist turns his own skin into a manifesto.
